Miri man arrested for allegedly threatening to hit mum

MIRI (May 17) A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly threatening to hit his mother after she refused to let him use the motorcycle and give him money to go to Bintulu.

District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrest was conducted by the district police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team at the family’s house in Bandar Baru Permyjaya here at around 8.22pm on Sunday.

“The suspect suddenly ran amok and scattered things in the house before threatening to hit his mother who had refused to let him use the motorcycle and give him money to go to Bintulu,” Alexson said in a press statement.

The suspect’s mother, 53, who was unharmed, later managed to run out of the house to lodge a police report.

It is learnt that this was not the first time that the suspect had behaved like that.

Alexson said the suspect has been taken to Miri Central police station further investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

If convicted, the suspect could be jailed for two years or fined or both.
