Ismail Sabri: 64 nabbed on April 7 for violating SOP

KUALA LUMPUR: Sixty-four people were nabbed on Wednesday (April 7) for not complying with movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures (SOP).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 59 of them were compounded while the other five were remanded.

“The most offences committed yesterday were for unauthorised interstate/interdistrict travel (32), followed by not wearing masks (19), failure to register using the MySejahtera application (10) and not observing physical distancing (three).

“The compliance operation task force conducted 65,329 checks yesterday involving 3,635 teams comprising 15,964 personnel,” he said in a statement on Thursday (April 8).

He said they checked 4,573 supermarkets, 5,980 restaurants, 2,280 factories, 3,824 banks, 1,010 government offices and 2,773 hawkers.

“They also monitored 2,157 markets and farmers markets, 3,186 places of worship, 1,794 recreational areas, 1,429 land transport terminals, 318 water transport terminals and 106 airport terminals.

“Meanwhile, under Ops Benteng yesterday, 37 illegal immigrants were arrested and six vehicles were seized,” he said.

He added that 16 illegal immigrants were deported.

He said 650 individuals entered the country via international entry points and have been quarantined since Wednesday.

“Since July 24,167,299 individuals have returned to the country and were placed at 74 hotels and eight public training institutes and private learning institutes nationwide.

“Of that number, 7,493 individuals were quarantined while 1,302 others were taken to hospital,” he said.

On foreign worker screenings, Ismail Sabri said 1,306 screenings were conducted on Wednesday and 37 tested positive for Covid-19.

“So far, 677,690 workers have been screened involving 35,066 employers.

“A total of 10,199 of them tested positive,” he said, adding that 1,544 clinics were involved in the screening programme.
